Eamonn Holmes was filmed knocking back bubbly straight from the bottle as he lived it up at Royal Ascot.
The TV presenter, 63, appeared to be in high spirits as he and ‘mum blogger’ Laura-Ann Barr swapped hats and enjoyed booze together at the famous horse racing event. In a video shared to Instagram, the veteran broadcaster wore a formal suit as he took a swig straight from a wine bottle before grinning sheepishly at the camera.
In recent weeks, former This Morning host Eamonn has been very vocal in criticising the toxic culture at the ITV show in the wake of the Phillip Schofield affair scandal. Phillip, 62, left the programme last month and later admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague.
But Eamonn appeared to be taking a day off from the drama as he enjoyed a day out at Ascot. In the Instagram clip, shared by Laura-Ann, Eamonn wore the Belfast-born blogger’s flowery yellow hat – while she donned his top hat.
He greeted Laura-Ann and then said with a smirk: "That's a lovely hat you have there.” Eamonn then pouted toward the camera as the floral headpiece accidentally slipped off his head.
Laura quipped in the caption: "That's a wrap."
Fans flocked to the comments section to heap praise on the pair. “A certain morning tv show could have its new pairing!” one wrote.
A second said: "New comedy duo." A third posted: “He does look nice in your hat!”
Just last week, Eamonn hit back at criticism he has faced following the drama surrounding This Morning as he stated: “People can’t handle the truth.” During a grilling by MPs, ITV chiefs lashed out at Eamonn’s This Morning bashing – saying the presenter ‘reaped the rewards’ while he was working for the station.
Reacting to that, Eamonn said on GB News: “There’s a scene in a Few Good Men where Jack Nicholson shouts ‘you can’t handle the truth’. Well, I know the truth and I know what the truth is.”
He added: “But people can’t handle the truth.”
After news of Phillip’s affair broke, ITV said they first conducted an investigation into the rumoured relationship in 2020 – insisting the presenter and the young colleague lied to them about it. Eamonn, who now works for GB News, has also demanded that ITV bosses be transparent about how the investigation was carried out.
The TV host has previously called Phillip 'rude' and a 'narcissist' amid the fallout from the affair scandal.
This week, Gino D'Acampo made a joke about the Phillip Schofield saga live on This Morning – much to the discomfort of hosts Holly Willoughby and Dermot O'Leary. Stepping back into the studio for the first time for a while, the 46 year old Italian chef said: "Everything is under control. I'm back!.”
He then asked if there was "any news from the last month" that he needed to know.
