Maisie Smith has reportedly landed first major film role, as she's said to have been cast in key role in the upcoming gangster film Bermondsey Tales: Fall Of The Roman Empire, alongside a handful of famous faces.
The former EastEnders actress, 21, has been acting since a young age and first appeared in the long-running BBC soap as Tiffany Butcher back in 2008, when she was just six years old. Maisie went on to appear in 678 episodes of the popular soap.
Prior to joining to cast of EastEnders, she made her film debut as a very young Elizabeth I in 2008’s The Other Boleyn Girl. And despite finding success on both the small screen and the stage, she had not made it back to film until now.
A source told The Sun: "Maisie has secured her first big film role and shooting will begin later this year. She plays Chloe, a leading player in a mobster family, and will be acting alongside Alan Ford from Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Kidulthood’s Adam Deacon.
“It is an exciting new venture for Maisie and she can’t wait to dip her toe into a big new project.
“Since Strictly and EastEnders she has kept her eyes open for her next on-screen job, and the people behind Bermondsey Tales thought Maisie was the perfect fit.
"Maisie’s schedule has been packed because she’s been on tour with the show Strictly Ballroom: The Musical. Once that has ended this summer she will get to work on the film. It’s all very exciting.”
OK! have contacted Maisie's reps for comment.
The news comes after Maisie and boyfriend Max George sparked backlash after they shared a fake "pregnancy" announcement after having a lavish five course meal in Abu Dhabi.
In the snap, which Maisie shared to her Instagram story, The Wanted singer Max, 34, has his hand covering his mouth in fake shock as he stares down at her 'bump'.
"We've got some really exciting news…" she wrote.
However, in the next story, the heart disappears to reveal a new caption: "I just had the best 5 course meal of my life," with a love heart emoji.
While some found the post funny, others hit out at them for seemingly joking about expecting a baby as many couples struggle to conceive.
One upset person wrote: “Pregnancy is not something to joke about when there are so many people that suffer everyday because they can’t have children.”
Another person commented: “I love Maisie but as someone who can’t have kids this really hits hard. Pregnancy is no joke to people who can’t have kids."
Maisie and Max appear to have ignored the backlash as they continue to share photos of their getaway on social media.
