Gemma Atkinson, 36, got candid with her followers on Instagram earlier today as she recalled a “terrifying” accident. The Strictly Come Dancing star explained how when she was younger, she found herself trapped underneath a horse.

This came as the star revealed she was hoping to get her daughter Mia, two, some riding lessons.

While she explained she’ll have to wait until her youngster is four to take these on, Gemma also shared a “terrifying” incident she once experienced.

Speaking earlier today on her Story, she said: “I used to do horse riding as a kid.

“I did it for a few years, loved it.

“But then one time my saddle slipped, literally slipped underneath the horse.

“And I was underneath him and it was terrifying.

“And I stopped going, I cried and cried.”

However, Gemma went on to admit, she “regrets” not getting back on the horse.

She continued: “I didn’t go back and should have done because I regret it now.”

Gemma is looking forward to her daughter being able to take up horse riding lessons when she turns four.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star admitted she’s hoping to tag along and overcome her fear when it happens.

“Hopefully when Mia starts I can get back on the saddle,” she added.

Gemma parents Mia with her fiance Gorka Martinez who she met while competing on Strictly.

The former Hollyoaks star and glamour model appeared on the fifteenth series of the show.

She was partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec and made it all the way to the final.

After meeting Gorka in 2017, the couple announced they were expecting baby Mia in early 2019.

They got engaged earlier this year on February 14 as Gemma shared the proposal story.

Speaking on The Hot Mess Mums Club, she said: “He was planning it for about five months, but obviously with lockdown and stuff…the ring that he’d chosen, it was actually Gethin Jones, who helped him get the ring. Of all people.

“And because of lockdown, there was a delay in getting it sent over. It was quite difficult.”

However, Gorka ended up popping the question on a dog walk, with the whole moment captured on a drone he was flying.

“He was on one knee with [dogs] Norman and Ollie either side of him, and they are so well trained to sit and stuff, and he’d set his drone up and it captured everything for us,” she explained.

Although, she admitted when she watched the footage back she realised she’d been holding a dog poo bag.
