The ‘Hurricane’ rapper’s Instagram page goes blank about 24 hours after his close friend and the Louis Vuitton artistic director’s passing of a rare form of cancer.
AceShowbiz –Kanye West may be silently mourning the death of his close friend Virgil Abloh. About 24 hours after the untimely passing of the Louis Vuitton menswear artistic director and Off-White founder, the rapper wiped his Instagram page clean.
On Monday, November 29, the Atlanta native deleted all posts from his Instagram page. He also changed his profiled picture into plain black.
The 44-year-old has not spoken publicly on his longtime friend’s passing, but his latest Sunday Service was dedicated to the fashion designer. During the November 28 ceremony, the choir performed a moving rendition of Adele‘s “Easy On Me”.
In a reworked first verse, the choir sang, “I know your love flows like a river. And I could wash myself in it forever. I know there is hope in these waters. But I can’t bring myself to swim. When I am drowning in my sin.” As the choir sang, a message on the screen read, “In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda.”
Meanwhile, Kanye’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian, who was also close with Virgil, has posted a touching tribute to the Louis Vuitton visionary. Seemingly having a hard time to cope with it, she wrote along with pictures of the late fashion designer, “God doesn’t make mistakes. I know that but I still can’t help but ask why. Why Virgil?! Why him so soon? It’s simply hard to understand why. I have a hard time understanding why so many pure souls were taken away so early.”
“Virgil- you were always so gentle, kind and calm,” the reality TV remembered her friend. “You somehow made time for everyone. We also talked about your superpower of calmness often. You always gave so much of yourself to the world because you wanted it to be doper. This one is hard to process. I can’t even believe I am writing this…”
She added, “We will miss you so much Virgil and love you so much. Also I would love to send so much love to his wife Shannon. Because you loved and supported Virgil the way that you did, he was able to give so much of himself everyone else. So thank you truly for sharing him with us the way that you did. Virgil’s legacy will live on forever through Shannon, Lowe and Grey.”
Virgil died on November 28 after a private two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare, aggressive form of cancer. He was 41 years old.
