Last week, the television presenter won the Best Documentary award at the National Television Awards for her second documentary Caring for Derek.
Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, 55, is currently in hospital after being diagnosed with sepsis.
The former political lobbyist has been in and out of hospital over the last two years, first being admitted in 2020 with Covid.
During her acceptance speech at the NTAs, Kate updated her fans on Derek’s condition saying: “He is back in hospital at the moment, fighting on so incredibly. We’re hoping he is coming home again soon.
“I want to thank Derek for his incredible fighting spirit, we love you.”

This is the second time Kate has won the award
The journalist first won the Best Documentary award in 2021 for the film Finding Derek.
