Television presenter Kaye Adams is no stranger when it comes to getting caught in fiery debates, often clashing with her Loose Women co-stars. Now, it appears that the broadcaster has left Twitter users annoyed after claiming Covid tests are not that easily accessible.

I clearly did not express myself clearly enough.

Kaye, 58, often uses her social media platform and, of course, her role as an anchor on Loose Women to lead discussions as well as sharing her thoughts.

Her latest post however has sparked fury from one disgruntled fan, who claimed that Kaye appeared to be out of touch over the accessibility of lateral flow tests.

Currently, Brits are encouraged to take lateral flow tests at home on a regular basis in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The tests that display results in just 20 minutes can be picked up for free at local pharmacies or ordered via the NHS website.

However, in order to find the nearest pharmacy stocking tests, those hoping to pick a batch up must complete a form before being offered a pack.

In view of her 80,000 Twitter followers, Kaye tweeted: “Still not as easy as it could be to get lateral flow tests. Need to check which pharmacies, fill in form, come back later. How many will bother? [sic]”

The post that instantly attracted the attention of her online followers was soon met with frustration, as some claimed she was “misleading the public”.

One fan responded: “How much easier do you want it to be? Have them delivered to your door daily by liveried chauffeur? [sic]”

To which Kaye instantly hit back with: “I clearly did not express myself clearly enough.

“Yes, it is ‘easy’ to get a test for those who are motivated to use them. The challenge is reaching those who are not motivated to use them as evidenced by football surge.”

Another fan tweeted Kaye: “Ordered online, arrived by post the next day. Why are you misleading the public?”

“That’s just not true. Available next day delivery, given out at testing centres and pharmacies,” said another.

While a fourth went on to pen: “Are you being deliberately obtuse on this? Deliberately misleading? Deliberately trying to badmouth a system that is working well. But, hey, it’s Scotland – must be c**p, eh?”

Enraged by the accusations, Kaye quipped: “For God’s sake – stop! This isn’t about politics. This is about having spiralling infection rates.”

One fan however leapt to Kaye’s defence, adding: “I work in a pharmacy I have loads I would be happy to post you some.”

Last week, Kaye clashed with fellow Loose Women panellist Denise Welch as the pair discussed the ongoing lockdown extensions.

As Denise shared her views on why the country should no longer be in lockdown due to the successful vaccination results, Kaye fumed: “To be brutal, if I’ve got to listen to you or [Professor] Chris Whitty [Chief Medical Officer for England], I’m going to listen to Chris Whitty.”

Instantly hitting back, Denise responded: “Well listen to Chris Whitty and be in lockdown forever then!”

After Denise claimed she “will no longer abide by rules that make absolutely no sense,” before adding that Covid-19 is “no longer the biggest health crisis,” Kaye was quick to shut her co-star down.

“We really need to be careful about what we say in a public forum,” she said.

Before a disgruntled Denise added: “I’m sick of being careful about what I say.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
