Leonardo DiCaprio has donated an impressive £7.6million ($10m) to fund for Ukraine, where his grandmother is from.
The 47 year old Hollywood actor, who recently starred alongside EastEnders' Himesh Patel in Don't Look Up, was reportedly very close with his maternal grandmother Helene Indenbirken, who was born in Ukraine in 1915. He is said to have taken her to the premiers of many of his films and would call her 'Oma'.
The Revenant actor's incredible donation was announced by the International Visegrad Fund, according to Polish News.
Leonardo's grandmother was born in Odesa as Jelena Stepanovna Smirnova and migrated to Germany with her parents two years later in 1917.
She left the city one year before the Odesa Bolshevik uprising, where power was transferred over to the Soviets, and stayed in Germany. She passed away in 2008 at the age of 93.
Actor Leonardo is not the only celebrity to donate money to Ukraine as Russian president Vladimir Putin continues his attack on the country.
David Beckham, 46, and his wife Victoria, 47, also donated a large sum, said to be £1million, to support the children affected by the Ukraine-Russia crisis.
Taking to his Instagram feed, the Global Goodwill Ambassador announced the launch of an emergency UNICEF appeal to provide aid.
"Like you I have watched the situation in Ukraine unfold with horror and disbelief," he started the video. "Mothers forced to flee with their children. Families torn apart. Children pulled from their beds to become refugees overnight."
He went on to share how "helpless" he felt as he and his family were all safe around him before praising UNICEF for their experience in deploying aid.

"Victoria and I have made a donation on behalf of our family to kickstart the appeal. We would be so grateful if you would join us to help UNICEF support these innocent children. Please give what you can today," he added.
Meanwhile Mila Kunis said she has "never been more proud to be Ukrainian" and pledged to match £2.3m ($3m) in donations to "provide an immediate impact on refugee and humanitarian aid efforts" and also raise up to £22.8m ($30m) by setting up a GoFundMe page.
In an Instagram clip shared on March 3, Mila began by saying: "I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983. I came to America in 1991."

Mila continued: "I've always considered myself American—a proud American. I love everything this country has done for myself and my family.
