Linda Nolan was forced to deny that she was drunk after falling over in a shop due to issues caused by her cancer treatment.
Linda, 62, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and has been battling the disease ever since.
While the Dublin-born singer insists that she’s generally doing “OK”, she has endured some side effects of chemotherapy – one of which has affected her legs and balance.
As a result, Linda’s not as steady on her feet as she used to be, leading to her falling over in a local Marks & Spencers.
Linda was helped up by staff, and as she was, she quipped to them that she wasn’t drunk at 3pm in the afternoon.
She told OK!: "As you know, my cancer is treatable – not curable – so I’m on constant treatments. I did a strong course of chemo where I lost my hair again and I was traumatised again.
"People said, ‘Oh, well you lost it before, you must be used to it now,’ and I went, ‘No, no, you never get used to not having any hair.’ Then I stopped the chemo because it was affecting my quality of life.”
She went on: “It affected my legs and I had a fall while I was in town. It was in Marks & Spencer at three o’clock on a Saturday afternoon and when they came to help me up, I said, ‘I’m not drunk!’”
Linda continued to say that she was waiting for some CT scan results at the time of our chat, as she admitted that she felt she was “sitting on a time bomb”.
“I try not to worry the whole time however,” Linda added. “If I’m worried the whole time, cancer’s winning.”
The pop icon’s first diagnosis was in 2006 and 11 years later Linda tragically received a secondary breast cancer diagnosis as well.
Meanwhile, her sister Anne received her secondary diagnosis in 2020, at the same time Linda was told her cancer had spread, after initially finding out she had breast cancer in 2000.
Fortunately, Anne has since received the all clear.
Talking about how her older sister is doing, Linda said: “She’s great! She’s cancer-free now. It’s amazing, because her cancer came back in 2020 at the same time mine did and the doctor said to us, ‘I know you love each other, but getting cancer together is ridiculous.’
“She has injections every six months now to protect her bones and since becoming cancer-free, her hair’s growing back and everything. She looks fabulous.”
