Migos rapper Takeoff has tragically died after being shot in Houston, according to the Associated Press, TMZ and Rolling Stone.
The Associated Press confirmed the tragedy with Takeoff’s rep and reported, “Police responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting at 810 Billiards & Bowling, where dozens of people had gathered on a balcony outside of the bowling alley, which is on the third floor, police said. Officers discovered one man dead when they arrived.”
TMZ spoke to “law enforcement sources and multiple witnesses” who said Takeoff (given name Kirshnik Khari Ball) and Quavo were playing dice “when an altercation broke out” and someone opened fire.
Quavo was not injured during the incident, but TMZ reports that two other people were also shot and taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. As of publication time, no arrests have been announced.
Quavo and Takeoff, who have been collaborating for years alongside Offset, recently celebrated the arrival of their new album Only Built for Infinity Links.
We’re keeping Takeoff’s family in our thoughts as this story develops.
