This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield, 56, is reportedly feeling “sad and distressed” after TikTok star Oli O’Toole, 21, claimed he had been messaging him on Snapchat for three years. Oli insisted that he’d meant no harm by sharing screenshots from his conversation with Schofield.
He also explained that he was just following an online trend on TikTok after realising that the video, which has been liked over 28,700 times, sparked speculation from some social media users over the content of the messages.
He said: “This is crazy to write but let me explain.
“Phillip Schofield replied to me (a fan) about four times in the space of three years. I posted it as part of a trend on TikTok.
“There is no story, depth or underlying thing. Stop trying to make it something it isn’t.”
Despite Oli shutting down speculation that the pair were messaging about anything untoward when he was just 17-years-old, Phillip is said to be “saddened” by the claims.
A friend of the host reportedly said: “Phil is the most caring and kind-hearted person and he if a fan messages him he will always try and reply.
“There was nothing strange or out of the ordinary about him replying to a fan and seeing suggestions from online trolls it could be something else was really saddening for him.
“Oli didn’t appear to think about the consequences of posting a video like that.
“It’s blowing over now but it still wasn’t very nice and at the time felt rather distressing.
“Phil will always go out of his way to make his fans feel special and will talk to everyone,” the source added to The Sun.
Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Phillip for comment.
In the clip, TikTok star Oli, who boasts 74,100 followers and 2.9 million on the video-sharing site, mimed along to Miley Cyrus’ song, Ordinary Girl, which has since become famous on the site, with users often choosing to share revelations that they wouldn’t normally share.

It’s believed that the pair, who have a 38-year age gap, had been conversing on the application Snapchat since 2017, when O’Toole was 17.
Their correspondence is believed to have continued until 2020.
Taking to the video-sharing platform on Tuesday evening, O’Toole shared screenshots from his conversation with Schofield, with one message from Oli reading: “Do u like my c [sic],” with the rest of the message obscured.
Replying to the photograph, which was no longer visible, Schofield seemingly replied: “Gorgeous.”
Another message sent by O’Toole on April 18, 2017, read: “HI PHILLIP, How is your break?”
To which Schofield appeared to have responded: “Amazing!”
Further messages exchanged on February 29, 2020, show the pair chatting after Phillip apologised for missing O’Toole’s birthday.
Oli goes on to ask Schofield about his recent trip to Paris with his wife Stephanie, with Phillip saying: “It’s a beautiful city,” before going on to say that he is “Recovering from a heavy night out lol [sic].”
When quizzed on where he had been the previous night, Phillip said: “Can hardly remember lol.”(sic)
Phillip is still currently married to Stephanie, who he married in 1993, despite revealing on This Morning last year that he is gay.
