Rihanna has clapped back at fans who are demanding the release of her 9th studio album this year.
On the occasion of the New Year, the 32-year-old posted a picture of herself clad in a shimmering green two-piece outfit standing before a dimly lit pool, writing “new year’s resolution: apply the pressure.”
The most-liked comment in the comments section of the same reads “Resolution should be releasing the album,” to which the singer responded with “this comment is sooo 2019. grow up.”
While many of the responses in the thread applauded the singer for taking her time in releasing the new effort, several others have pointed out that it is not fair for her to string “fans along & teasing them with a new album and getting upset when a fan brings it up lol.”
Yet to receive an official title and release, the new album has been in the works for several years, according to snippets of information revealed by the singer, as well as collaborators including Pharell Williams, who suggested that “Rih is in a different place right now. … Lke, wow. She’s from a different world” when asked about the tracks that the two are collaborating on.
