The “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” hitmaker has a history of denying his mental health issues. The judge went on to point that the rapper once left a mental health facility in California. Additionally, Silento’s grandparents were against the idea of the rapper being granted release on a bond.
Prior to this, Silento’s lawyers tried to explain that the hip-hop musician is a great person and he serves as a role model in his community. The rapper’s legal team further claimed that the artist urges kids to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Unfortunately, he got in trouble due to his bipolar disorder and other mental health issues. Despite that, his lawyer tried to convince the judge that Silento won’t be a danger if he was released from jail.
Silento was arrested in February for allegedly murdering his cousin, Frederick Rooks. His rep stated in a statement at the time that the rapper’s family was “banding together on the heels of his arrest for allegedly murdering his cousin…and they’re addressing reports the rapper’s been battling mental health issues.” TMZ also claimed his family was “trying to move forward as a close-knit group” and “reeling from both events.”
Silento, who was born Richard Lamar Hawk, was accused of murdering Frederick on January 21 in Panthersville, GA. The 34-year-old had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.
