YouTuber Song Ji-a (who goes by FreeZia on social media) recently gained a lot of attention thanks to her appearance on Netflix’s Single’s Inferno. This has also led to much scrutiny from netizens who follow her activities.
Song recently found herself in a scandal involving fake designer clothes. However, according to some internet sleuths, her luxury apartment also does not belong to her.
Song Ji-a was recently called out for wearing fake designer clothes
On Single’s Inferno as well as her YouTube channel, Song could be seen wearing many designer brands, such as Chanel, Dior, and Prada. Fans and some other cast members noted that Song gives off the vibe of someone who comes from a wealthy family. This seems to be the image she is portraying herself as.
However, according to BuzzFeed News, some fans looked closely at the designer products Song sported on the show and found that there were small differences when compared with authentic items.
Song recently posted an apology on her Instagram page, seemingly confirming these rumors. She wrote, “I apologize once again for all the circumstances that have occurred due to infringing on designers’ creations and ignorance of copyrights. As someone who has a dream of launching a brand, I will seriously recognize and reflect on the controversial parts.”
This scandal has received mixed reactions from fans. Some people felt she was deceiving followers, while others believed Song was just one of many influencers who face pressure to uphold a certain image.
Song Ji-a’s apartment allegedly does not belong to her
Amid the controversy surrounding her clothes, Song’s apartment is also brought into question.
Song often films her YouTube videos in a one-bedroom apartment that she has been making viewers believe is hers. According to internet sleuths, the apartment is located in an expensive apartment complex called Seoul Forest Trimage. Many celebrities, including BTS’s rapper J-Hope, own homes here. A one-bedroom apartment similar to what Song showcases can cost 780 million KRW (or about $656,000 USD) to purchase.
However, Koreaboo recently shared that some people are now doubting if Song even owns this place she allegedly lives at. A report stated that Song’s apartment is actually being paid for by her agency, Hyowon Agency. Hyowon also does not own the place but is reportedly paying for it in monthly rent.
After this report came out, Song deleted a video she posted in 2020 in which she gave a tour of her apartment.
Did Song Ji-a grow up rich?
In a Q&A video from July 2021, Song addressed the widely-asked question of whether she grew up in a wealthy family.
“Growing up, we didn’t have many financial worries,” she said. “My dad would let me do whatever I wanted to. He also let me have whatever I wanted.”
However, Song maintained that she “wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth,” though she is “grateful” for what her parents gave her.
Song shared that she works hard now as an adult to hopefully repay them for what they gave her growing up.
