Makeup demonstration videos are hardly new to Instagram, but it’s not every day that you see a pop punk rock star trying on foundation. In an IGTV post shared yesterday, 15-year-old Alabama Luella Barker tried out some foundation on her dad… who just so happens to be Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.
Alabama was using Good Apple by KVD Beauty, a vegan, “tattoo-inspired” brand which was recently used by makeup artist Anthony H. Nguyen to transform Lil Nas X in the provocative music video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’. In order to show how just how good the skin tone matching of the product was, Alabama applied it to two of her dad’s distinctive facial tattoos, completely covering them. She began by selecting the right color for Barker’s complexion, and then quickly and easily covers up the word “Blessed” on his left cheek, and the anchor under his left eye.
While Barker was impressed with how natural the overall effect was, it’s doubtful he’ll be removing any of his ink in the near future. In fact, he’s still in the process of collecting new body art. Just last week, he shared a video to Instagram in which he could be seen giving himself a new tattoo, inking the words “You’re so cool!” onto his thigh.
In the makeup video, Barker says that his favorite tattoo is the one on his leg, likely referring to this new addition, which is rumored by fans to be in honor of his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian. It’s also, if nothing else, a solid extension of the Barker brand. “You’re so cool” is a famous quote from the 1993 cult crime film True Romance, of which it’s fair to say he is a massive fan; his daughter Alabama happens to share her name with the main character.
