A DIY fan has revealed that she was fed up of looking at her depressing green fence, so gave it the ultimate makeover whilst on a budget.

So if your garden needs a bit of an overhaul but you don’t want to break the bank in the process, you’ll want to listen up. 



Emma Horsley, who posts on TikTok under the username recently took to the social media platform to show off her epic fence transformation, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting under the username @horsleyhomerenovation, she said: “Garden makeover, budget friendly! 

“I was just sick at looking at those depressing dark green fences.” 

In the clip, we saw Emma get to work on her garden transformation, as she explained: “Painting your garden fences – first you'll need to clear your fence of any debris by using a wire brush, secateurs and shears if needed.

“Once all clear, you can start painting.

“We used Ron seal's Fence Life Plus in warm stone and applied the paint quite thickly because wood can absorb a lot of paint.

“Brush on the paint in the direction of wood and apply a minimum of three coats – you may need more, like I said, wood can absorb a lot of paint.

“My fences here were very dark green, so we did need quite a few coats.

“Allow for four hours between coats and that's it.

“Stand back and appreciate and see how garden fence paint can completely transform your garden.”

Emma later claimed: “It’s hard work so good luck!!”

You can also order it online from Amazon too. 

The paint will cost you just £16 for five litres, from B&Q.

Another added: “I could be wrong but looking at the marks on the fence I’m guessing there was ivy? I have the same problem right now, how did you get it off?”

To this, Emma confirmed: “Yep, you’re right there was ivy. We used shears, secateurs, Swiss knife and our hands to cut and pull it all off. And wire brush to brush down after.”

A third asked: “Are you allowed to paint your fence? Or do you need the neighbours’ permission? I’d love to paint ours but I’m unsure on the rules.”
