A MUM has revealed the three things expectant parents definitely don’t need to fork out on – and claims it’ll be six months before you even think about using them.
Mikaela Ladocki shared that most parenting books and stores will encourage you to splash out on a cot and a high chair.
However, she recommends parents save their money – and more importantly, space.
The 27-year-old, who is currently expecting her second child, regularly shares parenting tips with her 7,500 followers.
In a new TikTok reel, she said: “Three things that you do not need to buy before your baby gets here.
“If you’re pregnant right now and you are feeling overwhelmed with the amount of things that you need for your baby, and you walk into a baby shop and you just have no idea what to get and when.

“I’m going to share with you guys three things that I personally don’t think that you need when your baby arrives.
“I have had one child and I’m also pregnant with my second, so I’m also trying to think about what I need now.
“And I’ve thought of a few things so I’m going to share them with you.
“Number one is a high chair. You will not need a high chair before you give birth to your baby.

“You baby’s not going to be able to sit in a high chair till they’re like five, six months old anyway, for when they start eating solids, so don’t feel like you have to go out and buy a high chair before you give birth.
“It’s just going to sit in storage for say six months. You just don’t need it.”
Mikaela also claimed a cot isn’t a necessity, as most babies sleep in their parents' room for the first six months.
She added: “Number two is a cot. Now, this is totally personal preference, and for me personally, I did buy a cot for my first son because I just enjoyed how it looked in his nursery and I’ll probably do the same with my second baby.
“But don’t feel like you need to rush out and get one if you are overwhelmed or don’t have the money, anything like that.
“You don’t need to them straight away unless of course, you are planning on putting your baby into a cot straight away.
“Otherwise they’ll most likely sleep in a bassinet or a bedside sleeper for say four to six months, or however long you choose until you move them into the cot.
“So if you don’t want to get a cot, don’t feel like you have to get a cot straight away.”
The third and final item she recommended skipping – baby walkers or jumpers.
She continued: “The third and lastly, one of these things.
“You don’t need one of these things when you have a newborn baby.
“And I know you will walk into baby shops and they will have rows and rows of walkers or jumpers all there ready to go for your baby, and it’s going to make you feel like you need to buy one and have one just ready to go.
“You do not need one of these before you give birth so save your money, save the space in your house, and wait until you actually need these.”
Fans loved her recommendations, with the video gaining more than 2,000 likes and 66,700 views.
In the comments, other parents shared their thoughts, many agreeing that some of these items were unnecessary early purchases.
One wrote: “As long as I had a car seat, bassinet, and rocker I was happy lol. It’s the only actual baby stuff I’ll get again.”
“I bought a cot before having my baby but it's still in its box. Figured there'd no point setting it up while she's in the bassinet,” another said.
