THERE'S a sure fire way to ruin a summer's barbecue and that's with an influx of wasps buzzing around landing on the sausages and putting people off their food.
But unlike a regular bug, you don't want to bat away a wasp for fear of taking a big old sting to the arm, hand or anywhere else they can sink their spike into.
But there are some easy ways to put them off coming near you during the hot months and they don't involve you getting hurt.
You'll usually find the wasps in the garden during the summer months but with windows left open it's not impossible they'll make a home visit.
Pest control expert Adam Juson, founder and director of Merlin Environmental explained that he thinks well get a lot of wasps this year.
He shared his top tips for banishing the bugs from your home and garden with Express.co.uk.

Firstly, he suggested avoiding taking sweet treating into the backyard, like lollies, fizzy drinks or even fruit as the sugar attracts the pests.
He also suggested, if you have a fruit tree in your garden, that you collect any fallen fruit before it starts to get attention from the pesky critters.

He said: “Seal any cracks around your home where wasps may be able to sneak in, around windows or where power lines may enter your home for example.
“Wasps nests can be found underground or suspended in trees and bushes, so be aware of your surroundings, including when you are gardening.”

Another tip was to wear light coloured clothing when you're outside as these colours are less enticing for wasps.
And he advised people to stay calm if a wasp does land on them as flapping around will make the wasp feel threatened.
