Mrs Hinch fans agree best way to store perfume – with one saying the hack has helped her posh fragrance last 20 YEARS | The Sun

MRS Hinch fans have all the best hacks – they know how to bring hard towels back to fluffy life and how to remove sun cream stains from any white top.

But the latest life hack they have agreed on is how to store your perfume.

While perfume bottles are pretty – and can cost a fortune – you shouldn’t give in to the urge to display them on the side.

This is because sunlight exposure can weaken the scent of your perfume.

The heat from direct sunlight breaks down the chemical composition of your favourite fragrances, causing them to lose their potency faster.

Mrs Hinch fans took to Facebook to affirm the facts, revealing they keep their perfumes in cupboards and drawers.

Some have even managed to preserve their favourite scents for over 20 YEARS using the storage method.

“I've always kept mine in a drawer,” one said. “Most are still in boxes.

“Perfume is best kept out of sunlight.”

“I keep mine in its box in a drawer under my underwear,” another added.

“Mine are kept in their boxes in a box in the bottom of my wardrobe,” a third revealed.

“Temperature changes and light are no good for perfumes.

“I’ve got a bottle of Very Valentino from the late 90s which still smells great.”

Similarly, one woman has kept an opened bottle of Mugler Womanity in the original box in her wardrobe for a whopping 15 years.

“Still smells the same as it did when I bought it!” she said. “I believe it’s because it is stored in its original box and in the dark.”

Some Mrs Hinch fans even keep their fancy bottles in the fridge, which keeps it both cool and out of sunlight.

“I keep mine in the fridge,” one explained. “Lasts longer and feels better when you spray it on.”

If you are desperate to have your perfumes on display, then you should choose a shelf or side that gets no direct sunlight.
