£1,700-a-month London flat so small you need steps to get into bed

How’s this for a rung on the property ladder? £1,700-a-month London flat is so small you need to climb wooden steps to get into tiny bed

  • The ‘fully furnished’ sleeping area is a double mattress set directly onto the floor
  • To live in the ‘modern studio’ for a year would set you back £20,544

A one-bedroom flat is up for £1,712 a month but the home is so small you have to climb a wood ladder just to reach the bed.

The central London studio, located on Penywern Road, has a ‘mezzanine sleeping area’ – but the second floor is accessed by a ladder and appears to have too low a ceiling to stand up in.

The ‘fully furnished’ sleeping area is a double mattress set directly onto the floor – with a double plug high above your head and a light switch just below.

The only way to access the ‘double debroom’ by a ladder up to the small mezzanine.

The flat is advertised as being close to Imperial College – suggesting students would be perfect for the flat despite it costing £20,544 a year.

The studio located close to Imperial is listed for £1,700-a-month even though you have to climb a ladder to access the mattress on the floor

The ‘ fully furnished mezzanine slepeing area’ looks  barely high enough  to stand and consists of a mattress on a floor with a double plug sockets and light switch

The kitchen area comes complete with a cooker, hob, microwave and sink

The room has a cooking surface with an oven, microwave and tiny two-ring hob.

There is also a dining table big enough for two.

The flat looks out over a garden, which pictures show as a lush green space sandwiched between tall townhouses.

It claims to have an ensuite bathroom, although this is not visible in pictures.

Interlet, who are renting the property, say: ‘A modern studio apartment situated in this period property in Earls Court.

‘The property is offered fully furnished and benefits from a kitchen fitted with an oven, microwave, and fridge/freezer as well as a tiled en-suite bathroom.

‘The property further benefits from free selected SKY TV channels, free fiber optic WiFi and free shared laundry facilities.

‘All utility bills including electricity, water, and central heating are included in the rent.’

The listing goes on to say that the the property is also within walking distance of Holland Park, Gloucester Road, and Chelsea.

The listing suggests the studio is perfect for a student as it is within walking distance to Imperial college despite the annual cost of rent costing £20,544 a year

The floor to celing windows over shadow the beautiful outdoor garden which is filled with plants, trees and stylish furniture

The studio over looks a communal garden which offers a communal seating area and a garden arch way
