A Place In The Sun’s Ben Hillman was left pleading with a budding homeowner after she became too “fussy” while searching for an apartment in sunny Spain.
In a re-run of a previous episode aired on Channel 4 on Monday, presenter Ben Hillman took Tina and her son Jamie on a tour of Mallorca, Spain, as she searched for her dream apartment.
The mum was searching for her ideal retirement apartment after spending her life travelling on cruise ships as a musician.
But host Ben was sent over the edge by Tina’s “fussy” demands, despite her modest budget.
While the three looked at a second property, Tina said she felt it looked more like a “hotel” than a home – much to Ben’s chagrin.
Trying to figure out where he had gone wrong, the host asked her: “Is that because it’s got a pool? Is this where I have gone wrong?
“You wanted a pool. I’ve given you a pool and all of a sudden ‘we are now in a hotel’. You are being fussy.”
Going a step further, Tina then jokingly compared the property to the set of 1980s sitcom Hi-de-Hi, which was centred around a fictional British holiday camp full of has-been entertainers.
A shocked Ben retorted: “Touristy. It’s a bit [Hi-de-Hi]? Oh my goodness. Jamie, please save me here.”
While Tina didn’t seem to be too taken with the property, son Jamie thought it was “really nice” and especially liked the swimming pool and garden.
Ben said Jamie was “hitting all the key points” as he told them that the apartment was in a great and central location.
He enthused: “It is probably the most central property I have got to show you. It’s right by the shops and a short stroll from the sea.
“It has a pool and a fantastic outlook, it’s secluded. I mean, where have I gone wrong?”
Unfortunately, Tina was having none of it but after viewing a handful of other properties, she later made a u-turn and decided property two had stolen her heart.
But sadly, it wasn’t to be after Ben made a quick phone call only to be told the property was taken off the market by the vendor.
A disappointed Tina eventually walked away without finding her dream home.
