British train tannoy leaves people howling as woman requests corkscrew for wine

People were left in stitches when a train crew made an announcement on board to help a group of women find a corkscrew for their wine.

It's a British tradition to get some drinks in while travelling on the national rail – whether party-goers are on the way to the capital or supporters are carrying tinnies to a football match.

And this group of women certainly weren't trying to be discreet with their booze session.

They brought a whole bottle of wine along for their train journey home – but sadly forgot to bring a corkscrew to open the plonk.

But, fear not, their luck was in.

Hilariously, the train crew at Avani West Coast made it their mission to find the group a corkscrew – with a brilliant customer announcement over the tannoy.

In a video posted to TikTok, one of the train crew announced: “A quick customer announcement for all passengers on board the train.

"If anybody has a corkscrew with them the group of ladies in coach H will be eternally grateful as they bought a bottle of wine with no corkscrew to open it.”

The Avani West Coast employee continued: “Please let yourself be known to the ladies in coach H.”

Surprisingly, the announcement worked.

Scores of passengers came armed with bottle openers for the group of women to save the day!

Many people have been left giggling at the train crew member announcement, some have said it has made them “proud” to be British.

One person commented: “It literally warms my heart that all these people so happily made their way over to help. It can be so fun being human.”

Another user applauded: “Absolutely prepared.”

A third voiced: “I was on this train and it literally made everyone smile!!

"I was so close to coming to join you once they announced for everyone to stop looking.”

Someone else cheered: “Stuff like this makes me so proud to be British.”

Meanwhile, a fifth person remarked: “This is actually so cute and wholesome.”
