Enduring booking fees
The biggest mistake people make has got to be paying more for your ticket than you need to – and the number one cause of this is booking fees. When you purchase directly through the app of the rail operator you can avoid this problem altogether. You’ll just be charged for the price of your ticket, and you can say goodbye to additional fees. For example, on LNR’s app you’ll be shown the cheapest tickets.
Paying full price at attractions
You’ll find so many great attractions throughout the UK. However, did you know instead of paying full price at your favourite destinations you could actually secure a 2FOR1 discount?
When you travel with LNR you can bag yourself 2FOR1 entry at top attractions in London, Birmingham, Liverpool and beyond. From theme parks and museums, to stadium tours, and even a bar crawls, you’re bound to find something that ticks all your boxes (just for half the price).
Leaving things last minute
Being spontaneous can of course be fun, but often, you’re quite literally paying by not planning ahead. Many rail operators offer Advance tickets that could save you a hefty penny on your train travel.
Advance tickets are usually available up to 12 weeks ahead of travel, so by booking early you’ll increase your chances of securing cheaper tickets as they are sold in limited numbers. But, be warned, once they’re gone, they’re gone!
Spending double on the school commute
For those travelling to and from school by train every day (or perhaps for the parents footing the bill), did you know by not purchasing a Student Season Ticket you could be paying up to double the price on travel for the whole term?
