Try these ideas to stir up an even greater start to your day.

Michael reckons getting the right balance of liquid and oats is key.

“Then all you need to do is add two mugs of milk, or water, to every one mug of oats.”
He’s also a fan of soaking oats overnight before tipping the whole mixture into a pan in the morning, and stirring until you get to the right thickness.
TRY TOASTING: Michael says that simply toasting your oats in a saucepan until they’re fragrant before making your porridge as normal will take your breakfast to the next level.
“This provides a smoky warmth to your porridge which is perfect for the autumn.”

GOLDEN RULES: A drizzle of golden syrup snaking through is porridge perfection.
Save on the sticky stuff by buying the supermarket’s own brand. At
Tesco you’ll pay £1.35 for 680g compared with £1.75 for 340g Lyle’s Golden Syrup — that’s twice the size for 40p less.
BERRY NICE: Have a pack of frozen berries on standby to make a tasty fruit compote.
Sainsbury’s frozen blueberries, £2.30 for 400g are good value.
Combine with some frozen raspberries, add a dash of sugar or honey and a few spoonfuls of water and heat until boiling.
Leave for a short time to thicken before spooning on to your steaming porridge.
COMBINE AND CONQUER: Try new flavour combinations to up your oats — banana and peanut butter, cinnamon and apple or pear and walnut.
