ENERGY bills are set to rise by more than £1,000 this winter, piling pressure on hard up households.
There's nothing you can do to avoid the hike, but there are schemes and funds available to hold your hand throughout the energy crisis.
The energy regulator Ofgem announced today that the price cap will rise from £1,971 to £3,549 from October 1.
It means the typical duel fuel bill for the 22million households on price-capped tariffs will rise by 80%, though as it's a cap on the unit price suppliers can charge, customers may pay more or less than this.
Energy suppliers are also offering cash grants to those hardest hit by bill rises.
You'll need to contact your supplier directly to see what they offer, what the eligibility requirements are, and how much you can get.
