It’s great news, but eating more greens can end up being costly.
Here’s how to get your five-a-day without having to spend a fiver a day.
GO GREEN-GROCER: If buying for a large family, the local greengrocer or market can often end up being the cheaper option.
My local greengrocer will often add little extras, round down prices or sell seasonal fruit in bulk by the bowl for bargain prices.
Haggling with a smile helps and sometimes, they will let you try things if you ask nicely.
SHOP LOCAL: While restaurants are slowly getting back on their feet, one thing that I’m sure will continue is the selling on of surplus stock.

BE FREEZER-FRIENDLY: How many times have I said that freezers are your best friend?
Firstly, I am constantly buying frozen berries as they offer such good value. Supermarkets offering ‘less than perfect’ frozen fruit are my favourite.
At Tesco a 1kg bag of imperfect frozen berries is £2.39, when a 500g bag of perfect berries is £2.
TRY TOO GOOD TO GO: This food waste app is growing fast.
They simply connect restaurants and shops who have leftover food with consumers.
Log on to toogoodtogo.co.uk, pay around £3-4 for a ‘magic mystery bag’ and then pick up during the allocated time.
GROW YOUR OWN: It’s easier to grow veg than fruit at home, but if you’re low on space, grow windowsill herbs or you can even grow strawberries.

Or you could go pro and get a Calamondin orange tree, which looks great and the bitter fruit makes great marmalade.
Instead of Patch Plant’s £55 one, go to B&Q and pick up their £18 tree.
