Aesop has established itself as THE status skincare brand since its launch more than three decades ago, thanks to its luxury branding and well-reviewed products.
We reviewed its Resurrection hand cream to see if it’s worth its £21 price tag.
In short, we loved it — its distinctive fragrance is so fresh and strong, the warm citrus aroma is almost addictive. A very handy companion to keep in your bag or desk drawer.

Pros

- A lot thicker than other hand creams we tried
- On the more expensive side
- Unless the lid is properly screwed on tight, it can seep out the sides, especially if being carried around all day in your bag
- The bottom edges of the tube are quite sharp

Aesop hand cream review: full review
I’ve never been one for hugely fragranced skincare products — until I tried this balm. Admittedly, my nose was drawn to my hands on numerous occasions because they smelt so divine – something to keep in mind if you don’t want to be easily distracted.
With wood and citrus being the key notes here, it practically resembles the smell of a freshly cut lemon and orange blended together; picture the perfect clothes detergent smell.
Fragrance aside, this hand product calls itself a balm, rather than a cream. I am not sure why this is, as in my opinion it looks and feels like a thick cream, which has a slight cooling effect once rubbed into the skin.
My hands felt instantly soft and smooth to the touch, leaving no grease marks on my tablet or mobile phone. However, because of a tiny residue feeling I experienced on more than one occasion, I’d suggest squeezing out just a tiny amount as a small dollop certainly goes a very long way.
This botanical balm soothed away any rough areas on my hands and following its guidance on the tube, I rubbed it backwards and forwards over my cuticles. Any sign of rawness around the nail beds eased away and placed over my shellac nail varnish, the balm seemed to help make it look fresher than ever. In fact, my skin looked visibly cleaner.
Aesop also suggests using the product on your feet, so the fact you can multi-task with it is a bonus. It provided an instant pick-me-up to my tired feet, but that may have a lot to do with the smell.
To sum up, I’m not surprised Aesop is a brand beloved by trendy restaurant bathrooms and fancy hotels everywhere. It oozes luxury and decadence in every sense and even with numerous hand washes, its balm kept the skin smelling good.
Hands remained smooth throughout the day. I only gave myself a top up to inhale the heavenly scent, otherwise once a day is all you really need. I’ve got to hand it to Aesop: this is a wonderful product.
