All schools and non-essential shops are closed in a wide range of restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the virus and not overwhelming the NHS.
You’ll be pleased to hear you can still get McDonald's, but what are the rules in place for getting your burgers, fries and nugs?
Is McDonald’s open during lockdown?
McDonald’s will remain open under the latest coronavirus restrictions.
However, you can't go into a branch to dine-in and in this latest lockdown, you can't walk in to pick up takeaway food either.
In previous lockdowns you could go in and get your McDnald's food to eat elsewhere, but this time it's shutting for takeaway temporarily.
This means you can only order food by going to the drive-thru or via home delivery through Uber Eats or Just Eat.
After McDonald's revealed the latest restrictions, the UK and Ireland boss Paul Pomroy said: "With the reduced services, smaller teams and social distancing in the kitchen, it will take longer to serve you.
"Your kindness and patience with our employees is greatly appreciated."
He has apologised to customers who have struggled to get food delivered and warned that orders may take longer than in usual times.
What Covid measures has McDonald’s introduced?
THE fast food chain has introduced a wide range of measures to keep staff and customers safe – these include:
- Protective screens in its kitchen and service areas
- Smaller teams in its kitchens to enable social distancing
- Face coverings and daily temperature checks for all employees
- Hand and bag sanitising stations and face coverings for its McDelivery partner couriers
- Contact-free order and payment available via the My McDonald’s App
- Enhanced cleaning of all surfaces and touchpoints
When does McDonald’s close during lockdown?
McDonald’s opening and closing times may vary from what customers are used to because of Covid-19 restrictions.
Before you make a trip to the drive-thru or start planning your delivery, it’s best to check with your local restaurant by using the chain’s restaurant locator.
Under lockdown rules, pubs and restaurants can serve takeaway food and deliveries until 11pm.
Drive-thrus also can't be open later than 11pm.
How do I get McDonald's delivered?
McDonald's works with both Uber Eats and Just Eat for all its delivery orders – but not all restaurants offer both services.
You should also keep in mind that you'll pay a delivery charge on top of your order.
This usually depends on how far away from the restaurant you are.
Enter your postcode on Uber Eats and Just Eat to see if McDonald's delivery is available near you.
McDonald's will now also deliver food to your car so you can skip the drive-thru queue.
