Love Island’s Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran’s romance from huge Essex house to shock split

One year on from falling head over heels in the Love Island villa, 2021 contestants Toby Aromolaran and Chloe Burrows have decided to time on their romance, according to reports.

The news first broke on Monday, after a source shared the news with MailOnline while Chloe was enjoying a holiday abroad with close pal and fellow love islander Millie Court.

They told the publication: "Chloe and Toby put everything into their relationship – but it just hasn't worked out between them.

"There's been no wrongdoing, they have simply grown apart, and over time realised it's better for them both to split.

"Naturally, Chloe has found the breakup difficult but being able to spend time abroad with Millie has given her the space she needed to start moving on.”

As their romance sadly draws to a close, here’s a quick look back at their relationship timeline from start to finish.

June 2021: Sparks fly in the Love Island villa

Toby and Chloe first met while appearing on Love Island together in the 2021 series of the popular ITV2 dating show. One of the original contestants, Toby entered the villa on day one, where he was coupled up with Kaz Kamwi.

However, after the arrival of Chloe Burrows, one of the first bombshells to enter the villa, Toby soon found his head turning for the new arrival, with the pair striking up a friendly rapport as they began to get to know each other.

Romantic sparks soon flew however, with the pair even sharing a sneaky kiss on the terrace before deciding to pursue their budding relationship.

Although there was clear chemistry between the pair, their relationship wasn’t without its obstacles, with Toby’s head turning twice more by both Abigail Rawlings and Mary Bedford, during the competition.

However despite a testing few days in Casa Amor in which Toby returned with Mary, eventually his love for Chloe outweighed anything else and the two found their way back together, even making it all the way to the final, where they came runners up to winning duo Millie Court and Liam Reardon.

August 2021: Making things official

Although the pair came second in Love Island, they still went home winners, as during their final speeches, an emotional Toby asked Chloe if she would be his girlfriend, much to the shock and delight of the girl of his dreams.

In a speech that captured the hearts of viewers at home, Toby said: “I'm not the best with words but for you Chlo, I'm willing to try. While I read this declaration of love with those piercing blue eyes watching me, I know that if I look up I might lose all composure! Chloe – will you be my girlfriend?”

To which a delight Chloe responded: “Yes!”

November 2021: Moving in together

After leaving the villa, the couple’s romance continued to grow from strength to strength, with the loved up couple even taking the huge step to move in together, just five months after first meeting each other in the villa.

Moving into a lavish £1million pad in Essex, the move marked the first time Toby had lived away from home and also showed just how serious the couple were about each other.

Shortly after the move, the happy couple took to Instagram to share a cheerful snap as they toasted their new home in style with a glass of champagne.

April 2022: Trouble in paradise

Just a few short months are moving in together, the couple were hit by a slew of breakup rumours, that claimed they had grown apart due to conflicting work schedules.

A source told The Sun: “They've both been working really hard and were finding it difficult to make time for each other.

“It looked like they were going to call it a day, but after crisis talks have realised they've got something worth fighting for” they continued.

May 2022: The first romantic getaway

In a clear response to inaccurate breakup rumours, the couple enjoyed their first holiday together in May 2022 as they jetted off to sun soaked Jamaica for a few days of rest and relaxation.

Documenting their loved up antics on the trip, both Toby and Chloe shared plenty of images on social media as they explored the sights and sounds of the stunning Island.

Chloe even proudly declared their arrival on Instagram as she wrote: “We made it!” while sharing a clip of the couple walking through Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay.

August 2022: One year anniversary!

In August 2022, the happy couple celebrated their first anniversary together with both Chloe and Toby marking the occasion in very similar ways.

For Toby, he kicked things off with a carousel of photographs charting their romance so far alongside the heartfelt caption: “Time flies when you’re having fun! Happy 1 year anniversary!”

Chloe meanwhile commented on the post: “All so pretty” before later going on to share her own selection of images that summed up their journey so far alongside a simple caption which read: “Happy Anniversary.”

September 2022: A birthday bonanza

Just one month prior to their split, Toby shared a post online dedicated to Chloe as he celebrated her 27th birthday. The post, which featured a smiling holiday selfie was captioned: “27 years around the sun. Happy Birthday to the second pea in my pod.”

Chloe meanwhile, celebrated the occasion with a selection of helium balloons, including the number 27 and a large rainbow maned unicorn!

October 2022: Girls trip to Marrakesh

After experiencing relationship woes with Toby, Chloe jetted off to Marrakesh, Morocco for a few days away with her close friend Millie Court, who herself had recently split up with Love Island beau Liam Reardon.

Sharing a string of selfies together, the girls appeared to be having the time of their life, with Chloe even posting about the experience on Sunday evening when she tweeted: “You know I f***ed off for a week to Morocco with Millie… yo all I had to say was I want to go and she did everything. Millie Court deserves the f***ing world.”

A similar sentiment was also echoed on Instagram, where she added: “Took a break and f***ed off to Morocco and want to award Millie Court the award for being the best f***ing friend I've ever had.”

October 17, 2022: Parting ways

On Monday October 17th, the news first broke that the couple had decided to end their year long romance together.

According to a source who first shared the news of their split with MailOnline, the pair are still living together but looking to make arrangements to go their separate ways after a few difficult months of trying to make their relationship work.

Although no “wrongdoing” has been committed by either party, the pair have decided to mutually call quits on their relationship after realising it wasn’t working.

OK! has approached representatives of Chloe and Toby for comment.
