Piers Morgan has become a household name following his presenting role Good Morning Britain and Life Stories on ITV.
However, the 56 year old journalist, who recently revealed that he is still battling long Covid five months and is on new medication, has not always had the surname Morgan.
Piers was born on March 30 1965 in Surrey to his father Vincent Eamonn O'Meara, a dentist from Galway, Ireland, and mother Gabrielle Georgina Sybille who was an English Catholic.
However the family suffered a tragedy when Vincent died in a road accident when he was just 11 months old and his brother Jeremy was three.

His mother went onto marry Glynne Pughe-Morgan, a Welsh pub landlord, and Piers took on the surname of Pughe-Morgan.
Piers worked as a freelancer for The Sun in 1988 and at this point decided to drop the double-barrelled name to simply Piers Morgan.
In 2017 Piers was tweeted by a follower over his name change, to which he replied: "My father died when I was one. Hence the name change when my mother remarried."
Piers has shared a collection of snaps with his stepfather Glynne, who he refers to as 'dad', to his 1.8million Instagram followers.
On May 30 2021, Piers shared a snap with his father and son Spencer Morgan, captioned: "Three generations of trouble. Happy 80th Dad!"
Meanwhile Piers also penned a heartfelt tribute to his father with a throwback snap as he poured from a magnum of champagne.
He wrote: "Happy 80th Birthday to my Dad… a great man who taught me the two golden rules in life: 1) Always be polite to police officers and 2) Always drink the best French wine you can afford.
"Sadly, for him, he forgot the third one… Never let your son grow up to be an Arsenal fan if you support Spurs."
Meanwhile fans were left shocked over how youthful Glynne looked for his age with one commenting: "How does your father look younger than you?"
Piers also shared a snap with his mum in 2019 as he celebrated Mothering Sunday, captioned: "Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who emboldened me to stand up for myself, never settle for mediocrity, shun self-pity, celebrate the good times, be there for friends & family in the rough times, and believe that ambition knows no bounds. Thanks Mum!"
