Prince Harry has removed himself from working royal life, opting to live in Montecito, California with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. Prince Harry has returned to the UK twice since this interview – once for the funeral of his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh in April, and another time in July to unveil a statue of his late mother, Princess Diana, with his brother William. In the trailer for the programme ‘Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers’, Prince Harry can be seen saying: “What you see is what you got with my grandfather.
“He was unapologetically him.”
A body language specialist, Judi James, spoke to Express.co.uk about the signals Prince Harry was exuding in the trailer of the highly anticipated interview.
Judi commented saying: “We are shown four very different states of grief here.
“Harry sits in the most animated pose, legs splayed and hands gesticulating as he looks keen to link with his grandfather via postural echo.
“This, like his previous comments about his banter, look and sound like an attempt to show bonds via similarity.”
It is unknown whether Harry got a chance to reunite with his family behind the scenes at the interview, as each member of the Royal Family is being interviewed individually.
Prince Harry’s announcement last month that he is writing a memoir will have shocked a few members of the family, and it is unknown if the family as a whole are on speaking terms with the Prince.
Royal fans are eagerly awaiting tonight’s programme to see if there are any more clues on the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his family.
A few clips from tonight’s programme have been released by the family’s social media accounts.
In one of these clips, the Duke of Cambridge revealed how much he “admired” the Duke of Edinburgh for “giving up his career” when he married the Queen.
Speaking in the interview, Prince William reflected on his grandfather’s career in the Royal Navy.
He said: “One of the things I do admire him for is that he gave up a very successful military career to be the Queen’s consort and support her and to go into service and duty in a different way.
“It was very much a ‘man’s world’ back then so for a man to give up his career to support a woman –albeit a queen – was still quite a big step.”
Prince Philip joined the Royal Navy aged 18 in 1939.
During the Second World War, he served with distinction in the British Mediterranean and Pacific fleets.
Some royal fans have interpreted William’s comments to be a dig at his younger brother, who stepped back from royal life to live in California with his wife and children.
The interview: ‘Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers’, will air tonight on BBC One at 9PM.
