In a short Instagram video, Australian interior stylist Liz Amaya revealed her top floor cleaning hacks

Bicarbonate soda on carpet

To absorb odours and stains in carpets, Liz sprinkled a small amount of bi-carb soda onto the surface of the carpet using a handheld kitchen sieve.

She left the powder on the carpet for 20 minutes then vacuumed the carpet as usual.

Bicarbonate soda is an effective abrasive powder that also acts as a fantastic natural deodoriser.

Toothpaste to remove marks

Next, she recommended using whitening toothpaste and a microfibre cloth to remove marks on tiled floors.

In the video she easily removed a visible mark on her pristine white tiles using the two common products.

The gentle but abrasiveness of the toothpaste and cloth work perfectly together to remove stains without scratching the tiles.

For the final cleaning hack, Liz made a lemon and vinegar floor spray by combining equal parts of vinegar, lemon and water in a bottle

Lemon and vinegar spray

For the final cleaning hack, Liz made a lemon and vinegar floor spray by combining equal parts of vinegar, lemon and water in a bottle.

She combined the ingredients by gently shaking the bottle then sprayed the liquid onto the dirty floors.

The floors were then mopped and left with a sparkling shine.

The short but helpful video has since been viewed more than 25,000 times.

‘Another one I’ll be trying,’ one person wrote, another added: ‘Oh I love that bi soda works on everything.’

A third added: ‘Love all your natural cleaning ideas Liz!’
