Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles prediction
After a 17-game regular NFL season and three rounds of thrilling postseason tournament play, only the AFC’s Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC’s Philadelphia Eagles remain. Those two historic football franchises will now battle for the prized Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVII.
Despite the Chiefs being the more recent NFL Champs having won Super Bowl LIV in 2020, they are the slight underdogs in this 2023 matchup due to the superior defense of the Eagles. Philly is hoping to earn its first Big Game victory since they won Super Bowl LII after the 2017 season, their scrambling young QB Jalen Hurts a main reason their 3rd ranked offense is tough to neutralize. Of course, KC has magician QB Patrick Mahomes who can throw the ball from any angle.
Tight end play will be key to this matchup, KC with arguably the best at that position in Travis Kelce, a solid blocker and dangerous pass catcher with 15 total TDs this season. Philadelphia has their own soft-handed TE in Dallas Goedert who has caught 55 balls this year for over 700 yards and 4 TDs.

A big difference in this game will be how effective these two pass rushes can be against mobile QBs who can throw accurately on the run, the Eagles leading the league with 70 total sacks and the Chiefs ranked second in that category with 55 QB takedowns on the season.
It is easy to forget that Mahomes (ankle) is still dealing with an injury, one that could limit his mobility outside the pocket, though that did not seem to affect his game play in the Chiefs’ Conference Championship win against the Bengals.
Watch for Eagles WR A.J. Brown to continue his breakout season (88 rec, 1,496 yards, 11 TDS) as he and QB Hurts continue to build their deep threat connection.

Check out our top betting tips for Super Bowl 57 below.
Travis Kelce over 6.5 receptions (4/7)
When it comes to stepping up in big moments, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce continues to prove his football worth. In the prior two postseason games he and QB Mahomes have just played together they connected for 21 receptions for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Expect Mahomes to continue to use Kelce as his go to receiver, especially while his ankle is tender and his movement is restricted, with the TE able to find the open spots in zone coverage.
True, Kelce had a stretch of scoreless games from after Week 12 through the first game of the playoffs, but now that he and Mahomes are seeing eye to eye again, he should be the player to post the most receptions in this game.
Philly DC Jonathan Gannon will no doubt game plan to stop Kelce, but the 6’ 5” 256 pound playmaker is not easy to effectively double-team or tackle.

Kansas City Chiefs moneyline (21/20)
For the Kansas City Chiefs to win this game outright, their defense will need to step up and play their best game of the season. That squad kept both the Jaguars and the Bengals to 20 points each in the first two games of the playoffs and if they can do that against the Eagles this game should be theirs to win.
Key to their defensive success is their line with young and old players making up their pass rush, including veterans like DE Frank Clark and DT Chis Jones and rookie DE George Karlaftis.
Also young is the Chiefs’ secondary that features two rookie players – CB Jaylen Watson and NB Trent McDuffie – though count on DC Steve Spagnuolo to include plenty of veteran help including safety Justin Reid.
Whether Kansas City HC Andy Reid can out game plan the Eagles’ number one ranked defense will be the biggest factor in their outright win, but he has QB Mahomes at his offensive disposal and the two of them are known for fourth quarter wins.

Miles Sanders over 61.5 rushing yards (20/23)
The Philadelphia Eagles have a top-5 rushing attack and the star of that ground and pound offense is RB Miles Sanders. Now in his fourth NFL season, Sanders has had a Pro Bowl year after posting 259 rushes for 12,69 yards and 11 TDs on top of 20 catches for another 78 yards of offense.
For the Eagles’ passing attack to be effective, their run game must be productive early in the game and that is when Sanders should begin to establish his dominance out of the backfield. He will be facing a Chiefs defense that is ranked 8th against the run after keeping opponents to just 107.2 yards on the ground per game.
Philadelphia has an excellent offensive line starring LT Jordan Mailata and C Jason Kelce, a group that will be key to the Eagles rushing success. Sanders has run for 100+ yards in three games this season and for 90+ yards in six games, so he is used to being the main man on the ground and this Big Game should not be any different.

Who is favourite to win Super Bowl MVP?
Here are the latest Super Bowl MVP odds from Spreadex:
- Patrick Mahomes (5/4)
- Jalen Hurts (5/4)
- Travis Kelce (12/1)
- A.J. Brown (14/1)
- DeVonta Smith (25/1)
One player in the Super Bowl will be given the MVP honors, and typically that goes to the quarterback of the winning team which explains why the top two favorites in this category are Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Either of them could be the reason their team wins since so much of each offense depends on them having an outstanding game.
Also on the list are some of the best pass catchers in this matchup including TE Travis Kelce who we expect to get some major targets. Eagles’ deep threat WR A.J. Brown could just as easily become a major factor in a Philly win despite KC most likely throwing plenty of double teams his way.
That might be where underdog WR DeVonta Smith comes into play since he has been excellent at taking advantage of defenses who pay too much attention to WR Brown and RB Sanders.
