‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ is returning to Peacock
One “Real Housewives of Miami” fan favorite is a “shoo-in” for the upcoming Peacock reboot, while another is not expected to have a role in the show, Page Six has exclusively learned.
Although casting is still underway, we’re told that Alexia Echevarria is likely to make the cut while Marysol Patton’s chances are much slimmer. Both ladies, who are good friends, starred in all three seasons of the Miami franchise from 2011 to 2013.
“Alexia Echevarria is a shoo-in as she has such a dramatic and challenging life story between her ex-husband’s death, her son’s accident and new [fiancé],” an insider told Page Six.
Echevarria, 53, lost her estranged husband, Herman, in 2016, and she is now engaged to real estate investor Todd Nepola. The reality star’s son Frankie was involved in a serious car accident in 2011. He now runs a nail salon, Alexia + Frankie’s Beauty Bar, in Florida with his mom.
As for 54-year-old Patton, she “is likely out as her storyline with her mother was what viewers really loved, and her mother recently passed away,” the source said.
Patton’s mother, Elsa Patton — who played a major role on “RHOM” — died in May 2019 at the age of 84.
Our insider tells us that while Patton likely won’t be coming back, she “seems super happy” so “she doesn’t mind either way.”
Reps for both Echevarria and Patton did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
A spokesperson for NBCUniversal told us, “Nothing to share on casting now, but will let you know when we do!”
As Page Six exclusively reported in October, former cast members had to re-audition for a spot on the series reboot after Bravo announced that “RHOM” would be returning on NBC Universal’s streaming service Peacock.
A source said at the time that Patton and Lisa Hochstein were angling for a return, while another source said that Larsa Pippen and Echevarria could be coming back for the reboot.
Page Six also reported that Phil Collins’ ex Orianne Cevey and singer Paulina Rubio could potentially earn a “Housewives” tagline.
Hochstein did not comment on whether she would be returning to the show but she previously told Page Six in 2019, “Who wouldn’t be interested in a [“RHOM”] reboot?”
Peacock announced that the show would be making its return with Bravo honcho Andy Cohen as an executive producer. A premiere date hasn’t been announced.
