A woman has revealed the ‘reality’ of weight loss after her hair started to drastically fall out – and she says it’s enough to even make a wig.

Lauren Linford decided to go under the knife in Turkey to get a gastric sleeve operation, which is an irreversible procedure that removes around 80% of the stomach.

The 30-year-old, from Hertfordshire, did plenty of research before the op – but struggled to find other people that showed the "ugly side" of the op.

It's been five months since she embarked on her weight loss mission with a small percentage of her stomach left and TikTok users have been following her journey.

Lauren has exclusively spoke to Daily Star about the ‘reality’ of weight loss now she's 4st 9lbs with just 70% of her hair left.

She explained: “The reason I chose to show the 'reality' of weight loss is because I struggled to find accounts online that would show a lot of the 'ugly' side to weight loss surgery.

“I think showing the good and the bad definitely helps a lot of people who would make that decision of having weight loss surgery as it’s a BIG decision to make having 80% of your stomach taken away.

“Everyone should be prepared for everything that comes with it!

"I wanted other people to be more aware and understand so much more about the whole journey you face after weight loss surgery as I only got to understand a small part of it before going ahead and having it done.

“Blogging my journey is also great for myself as I love looking back at my progress and seeing how far I have come!”

In one of her recent clips that she posted to her weight loss Instagram, Lauren put her hand next to a huge clump of her hair to show just how much she lost.

“That is a full blown wig”, she remarked.

The makeup artist even put her hair cluster on her pet dog – and joked her pooch had a new coat.

“I have lost about 70% of my hair sadly”, she told us.

“No one prepares you for how bad this can be! I have had multiple meltdowns crying to my family and my boyfriend how scared I am of going bald.

“It’s my worst nightmare [going bald]!

"I can’t wear my hair up anymore as I have bald patches on my hairline. I find my hair absolutely everywhere.

“I only have to touch it and clumps can come out, it’s really scary and makes me so sad.

“I’m trying everything I can do to slow it down but it has been persistent since the three month mark, progressively getting worse. "

She continued: "I currently take multivitamins, biotin for hair and collagen for hair as well as a scalp shampoo and conditioner and treatment called Nioxin which does seem to help.

"I try to only wash my hair once a week and have my hair in a plait everyday so there is no strain on the root of my hair.

“I have come to terms with it now as there isn’t much I can do, I have been advised by my surgeon that it will grow back and will slow down at the six to eight month mark which gives me faith that I won’t go bald."

Despite Lauren’s fear of losing her long black locks, she still does not regret getting the gastric sleeve surgery.

“I 100% would still have the surgery.

"I definitely feel like I researched enough to be prepared for mostly everything but the side effects I have experienced along the way that are new to me definitely don’t have an impact on my decision.

“As horrible or annoying they are to experience, the results I have had after weight loss surgery are definitely worth it!”

Previously, Lauren shared that she felt comfortable enough to wear a bikini for the first time in years.

Lauren even felt so good in the swimwear that she admitted she could cry about how she now looks.

“Every single swimwear outfit I put on, on my recent holiday in Ibiza, I just wanted to cry with how good I felt!” she said.

“I had so much confidence and I felt like I found myself again. It was the most unreal feeling, nothing honestly compares to it.

“The first day I was there I went to a pool party and once I was in my outfit and completely ready I remember looking in the mirror and getting really emotional because I couldn’t believe it was me – I was happy again!"
