Gareth Bale is in talks to join Los Angeles FC on a 12 month contract when the window opens on July 7.

A deal is yet to be fully agreed but discussions are ongoing.

The Wales international has been looking at a number of options including training with Cardiff City in the short term as he prepares to maintain fitness ahead of Wales’s World Cup campaign.

Wales star Gareth Bale has reportedly agreed to sign a one year deal with LAFC in California

Bale played a key role in helping Wales to their first World Cup appearance in 64 years, beating Ukraine 1-0 in the play-off final earlier this month.

The 32-year-old, who won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid, would link up with former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini should he decide to make the move to the MLS.

Los Angeles FC are top the Supporters’ Shield table with 30 points after 15 games. If all goes to plan, Bale could be eligible to make his debut against the LA Galaxy on July 8.

The former Tottenham star is looking to gain regular minutes after leaving Real Madrid following his eight-year stint.

The Welsh international scored 106 goals in 258 appearances during his time at Real Madrid

The 32-year-old moved to the Bernabeu in 2013 for a then world record fee of £86million and has since scored 106 goals in 258 appearances for Los Blancos.

However, Bale endured a turbulent final few years in Madrid, as certain fans and Spanish media outlets criticised his efforts and performances at the club.

The Welshman flirted with a switch to hometown Cardiff City in the Championship earlier this week, having reportedly met with manager Steve Morison to discuss a potential contract.

But the five-time Champions League winner ultimately chose to take on a fresh challenge with Los Angeles FC, who finished ninth in the MLS Western Conference last season.

Having featured only seven times for Real Madrid in all competitions last campaign, the move to LAFC will likely offer Bale plenty of first team action ahead of Qatar.

Despite his move away from Europe, the forward will still be surrounded by a handful of household names at LAFC, which is part-owned by Hollywood actor and comedian Will Ferrell.

Bale will team up with Italy and Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini at the Banc of California Stadium next season, after the 37-year-old signed a contract until 2023 at the club in June.

Bale will also be in the company of Hollywood actor Will Ferrell who is an owner at the club

Upon his arrival, Chiellini said in a statement: ‘I felt very strongly about this new chapter in my career and I am grateful to LAFC for this opportunity.

‘I’m thankful for all my years with Juventus and I’m looking forward to winning many more trophies in Los Angeles.’

Bale will also rub shoulders with former Arsenal and Real Sociedad winger Carlos Vela, who has scored 73 goals in 116 appearances in black and gold since his arrival in 2018.
