Bournemouth vs Wolves delayed after sprinklers come on during match

BOURNEMOUTH and Wolves players were given an early shower after the sprinklers came on during the match.

With the scores locked at 1-1 and only a few minutes of the game left to play, there was an unexpected delay when the water works came on.

At least four sprinklers were switched on with a host of players from both teams given a soaking.

The referee was forced to stop the momentum of the game with the sides going for the winning goal.

But the supporters found the funny side as they loudly cheered the drama on the field.

It was a game full of incidences with three penalties awarded – one which was scuffed wide.

Bournemouth were given the first when Josh King went down softly under Joao Moutinho's challenge.

The striker then made no mistake to give the Cherries the lead.

With seven minutes left to play, it was Wolves' turn to score from the spot when Adam Smith fouled Matt Doherty.

Raul Jimenez scored it and there was still time for one more but King blew the chance to hand Bournemouth all three points.

His late penalty clipped the outside of the post as Wolves headed back to the Midlands with a point.
