'Come home!' – Tottenham fans in meltdown after Christian Eriksen 'likes' Antonio Conte's manager appointment

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has sent Tottenham fans into a frenzy after 'liking' the club's social media post announcing Antonio Conte's appointment.

Spurs have acted fast in replacing sacked gaffer Nuno Espirito Santo by bringing in the Italian manager on a deal until 2023.

Conte will earn £15million-a-year in North London which makes him the joint-second highest-paid boss in the Premier League.

Supporters have been left delighted by Conte taking charge of the club, with the 52-year-old to be given a £150million war chest to bring in his own players in January.

And it's not only fans that are excited by the news, as Spurs cult hero Eriksen liked the club's Instagram post confirming his appointment.

Eriksen was signed by Conte in January 2020 with the pair winning the Serie A title together at Inter Milan last season.

The Danish playmaker, 29, has been linked with a move away from the San Siro following his cardiac arrest against Finland at Euro 2020.

He was subsequently fitted with an ICD (Implantable cardioverter defibrillator) to monitor his heart rhythm.

But due to Serie A regulations, he is unable to feature in the top-flight unless he has the device removed.

However he is free to return to competitive football should he depart Inter, with Spurs supporters urging him to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after liking Conte's announcement post.

Taking to social media, one user tweeted: "Get back over here mate.. we will have you back."

Another remarked: "Wish we could have Eriksen come home in some sort of coaching role like we did with [Ryan] Mason."

A third added: "Please bring that Dane back home, we need his creativity in the middle."

Meanwhile one simply stated: "Come back home king."

One tweeted: "Eriksen is coming home. Confirmed."

Another commented: "The last dance we deserve."

Eriksen joined Spurs from Ajax in 2013, with the midfielder scoring 69 goals in 305 games in all appearances.
