Man City star Raheem Sterling says phenomenal goal record means nothing if they don’t win silverware this season – The Sun

RAHEEM STERLING admits being Manchester City’s top scorer will count for nothing if they do not win more silverware.

Stand-in skipper Sterling struck twice in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win at Oxford in the Carabao Cup.

It took his tally for the season to 18 and set up a blockbuster semi-final clash against Manchester United.

But Sterling, who is five goals ahead of injured team-mate Sergio Aguero, said: “It doesn’t mean anything if we don’t win any silverware.

“The most important thing is being in contention and then I’ll look at my goal tally after that.

“We are just trying to compete in every competition — and not just the Premier League.”

City’s hopes of making it three titles in a row have faded with runaway leaders Liverpool now 14 POINTS clear of them.

Sterling added: “I know the Premier League looks out of reach now.

“But we are looking to get to the finals of this competition, the FA Cup and even the Champions League.

“We’ve got to try and compete on all fronts.”
