Manchester United scout Diego Rolan the Bordeaux striker lighting up Ligue 1

MANCHESTER UNITED have upped their interest in Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.

Reports in France claim Jose Mourinho’s side were one of a handful of top European clubs – and Norwich – who sent scouts to keep tabs on the Uruguayan at the weekend.

True to form, the 23-year-old scored the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Nantes, on 31 minutes, with a talent spotter from Old Trafford in attendance.

In just three Ligue 1 games this season, the former Montevideo-born star has notched twice, which is an impressive start after only grabbing seven in the top flight last season.

Bayern Munich are also interested in the attacking talent and United won’t want to be embarrassed by their Champions League rivals again after their pulled the rug from under them in the Renato Sanches deal.

The South American star is under contract in the claret-crazy region until 2018 so United would have to part with a decent sum and Bordeaux will be sitting pretty if they can drum up an auction between some of the major clubs.

United already  have plenty of attacking options, with Marcus Rashford’s brilliant late Hull winner putting him back in the headlines.

But Rolan would be a long-term investment, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic creeping past their prime years, if he becomes part of the mega-money summer transfer window.
