There have been countless heartwarming tales over the years – I know many clubs can drag out a few, but Everton always seemed to have more than most.
Which is why the decision to e-mail a survey to a section of fans – that’s nothing new for them by the way – is so jaw-droppingly crass and cowardly.
Asking supporters for their feelings on the club and its workings is something the Toffees do several times a year, so this isn't a one-off.
But one question on the current list jumped out. One where they were asked to rate boss Sam Allardyce's ability to get the best out of their team.
Bluenoses were asked “how high the level of trust is in the current manager and coaching staff of Everton…in making the right decisions to get the best out of the team.”
