Wimbledon star faces tennis ban after attending Man City vs Inter Milan Champions League final | The Sun

TENNIS star Fabio Fognini could receive a ban less than a fortnight before Wimbledon after attending the Champions League final.

The Italian, 36, is a huge Inter Milan fan and flew out to Istanbul to watch his side lose 1-0 to Manchester City earlier this month.

And his disappointment was added to as he missed a dope test in the process.

According to Sportmediaset.com, officials turned up at his home to carry out the procedure, but the former world No9 was nowhere to be found.

This is the second time Fognini has committed such an offence and now awaits news on whether he will be punished.

And it means his appearance at Wimbledon next month is up in the air.

The third Grand Slam of the year kicks off its main draw on Monday, July 3.

Fognini has been eliminated in the third round on six occasions over the past 13 years at the All England Club.

Now 130th in the world, his best Slam run came at the 2011 French Open when he reached the quarter-finals before he withdrew from his clash with Novak Djokovic due to a leg injury.

Meanwhile, the Sanremo-born tennis star has previously opened up about his love for Inter Milan.

He said: "My family is full of Inter fans. Inter for me means passion.
