In that reality series, five members of the LGBTQ community teamed up to transform straight men into better versions of themselves.
This episode of ‘That’s So Raven’ paid homage to ‘Queer Eye of the Straight Guy’
This character always loved fashion. After being inspired by a “makeover show,” Raven decided to take on a makeover of her own.” A student in her class needed a haircut and a complete Raven transformation. As a result, Raven, Eddie, and Chelsea took on their own Queer Eye personas.
Compete with “Fab 3” scooters, Raven was the “Fashion Diva,” Chelsea was the “Groomologist,” and Eddie was the “Cool Consultant.” These characters worked together to makeover Tyler, giving him new clothes, hair, and music.
Raven and her friends did such a good job with Tyler’s transformation that this psychic started to fall for him. Unfortunately, Tyler took another girl on a date. Even though he did have a crush on Raven, the relationship wasn’t meant to be.
Raven helped her mother with a mini-makeover. Still, after her experience with Tyler, this character was officially out of the transformation business. Although That’s So Raven referenced other moments in pop culture. There were no other nods to Queer Eye of the Straight Guy in this Disney Channel series.
Netflix since created their own version of ‘Queer Eye of the Straight Guy’
This Disney Channel series had their version of Queer Eye of the Straight Guy with That’s So Raven. Years later, Netflix created their original series based on this reality show. That’s Queer Eye, initially released in 2018.
This show featured a new “Fab Five,” comprised of Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness. There, these experts transformed local heroes into better versions of themselves. Since its release, this reality series has earned multiple Emmy Awards and praise from fans worldwide.
The “Psychic Eye for the Sloppy Guy” episode of That’s So Raven is available for streaming on Disney+. By contrast, episodes of Queer Eye are available exclusively on the rival subscription service, Netflix.
