The devastating storm descending on Emmerdale is set to claim at least one victim, but could it be about to claim two – Amelia (Daisy Campbell) and her baby?
Amelia’s labour is brought on by the terrifying situation she finds herself in when she’s lost in the middle of the storm. Trapped and with no way of calling for help, she and her baby are in mortal danger.
Prior to the storm, Amelia is excited for her picnic date with Noah (Jack Downham) who is at Wiley’s. She gets herself ready and heads off to meet him, but the weather is already taking a bit of a turn, with the wind battering the heavily pregnant mum-to-be as she traverses the countryside.
Barely able to stay on her feet by the strength of the gusts, she suffers a hard fall and the impact combined with the panic triggers her labour.
As her contractions start, she desperately calls her dad for help, who is left in utter panic when her phone cuts off before she can tell him where she is. With her phone battery dead, all Amelia can do is try and seek shelter.
Having heard Amelia is lost, Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) bravely heads off into the wind to try and save her. At Home Farm, Lydia (Karen Blick) passes on that the teen is missing and that help is needed – so Kim (Claire King) gallantly mounts her horse and heads out into the wilds.
Amelia manages to find shelter, but how safe is it? Harriet searches desperately on her quad bike as Kim gallops across the countryside – but when she sees Harriet’s tyre track, the jealous bride becomes distracted with her need for revenge and derails their rescue mission.
As the young mother hides out in a barn battling contractions, Dan (Liam Fox) continues his fruitless search for her. A barn collapses at Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) farm sending terrified cows stampeding across the fields.
Will the beasts beat down the barn shielding Amelia before help arrives? With the world collapsing around her, Amelia is left to pray for hers and her baby’s safety.
Lydia is set to receive terrible news once the bad weather subsides, could the news be of Amelia and her baby’s deaths?
Actress Daisy Campbell revealed it took a year of research to get into the role of pregnant teen mum and to portray a realistic birth.
‘I did research labours and births,’ she said. ‘As soon as I was told about the story, I immediately started my research.
‘I watched young teen births as that was what my story was based mainly on. I used 32 different websites to find out specific feelings and emotions when giving birth. I like to really use my research and prep to my full extent, so I was researching for most of the year really.’

She added that for the storm scenes it took a lot of prep to get herself in a place ready to film such drama.
‘When doing my prep and research before shooting these scenes, I really wanted to feel the fear and intensity of scenes we had ahead,’ she explained.
‘So in between every scene I ran round the set and jumped up and down right before action was called. I did this to make myself out of breath and sweaty and tired so that I could really feel the exhaustion from what was actually happening.’
