Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson were flung into the media storm when Married at First Sight Australia season eight first aired Down Under. Bryce in particular caught fans’ attention as it was never exactly plain sailing for the pair thanks to him. The reality series is now airing on E4 in the UK and has once again caused a stir with viewers.

Bryce has been accused of gaslighting his new bride pretty much from the get-go.

He insulted her by describing exactly how she wasn’t his physical type and then threatened to leave if she asked what his intentions were again.

There was also plenty of drama when it was thought Bryce could have had a girlfriend outside of the experiment.

Nevertheless, Bryce and Melissa have stayed together and last month, the couple had their twin boys.

Their sons arrived a little sooner than expected as they were 10 weeks premature.

However, they appear to be happy and healthy at the hospital with their parents by their side.

During this time, Bryce and Melissa announced what their children would be called.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been the best reaction with some labelling the names a “gimic”.

Bryce and Melissa’s sons are called Levi and Tate, they revealed on social media.

When the two names are brought together though, they form the word “levitate” which means to rise in the air, “typically by means of supposed magical powers”.

This could be a reference to how the babies have lifted Bryce and Melissa’s spirits and their lives generally.

This didn’t go down too well with one commenting on Facebook: “Levi-Tate… really?”

“Lovely names, but Levi and Tate… Levitate?’, a second questioned.

Others simply asked “Levitate?”, with one including several laughing emojis as they stated “they named their kids levitate”.

Another added that Levi and Tate were “not unique just not common”.

Bryce and Melissa have spoken out about why they decided on these names in particular.

Speaking to New Idea magazine, Bryce explained: “We wanted unique names that had a modern feel to them.

“We also wanted names that promote positivity for them and our new family.

“Levi means ‘harmony among others’ and Tate means cheerful’ so it suits them perfectly.”

Melissa continued: “We had other names in mind, but we always came back to those two.”

Married at First Sight Australia is available to watch on E4.
