Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) is back in Emmerdale – and she’s getting married!
Tracy has been away from the village to tie in with Amy Walsh’s maternity leave. After giving birth to a baby girl, Amy briefly returned last October for the soap’s 50th anniversary and Faith Dingle’s (Sally Dexter) final storyline.
Last year, she wasn’t ready to return full time but now, Amy’s back – and Tracy is very busy indeed.
In the Dales, Moira (Natalie J Robb) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) discover that Nate (Jurell Carter) is heading to the town hall.
At first, Cain and Moira wonder if Nate is going to fight for custody of his and Tracy’s daughter, Frankie, but they then reach the conclusion that he’s going to crash Tracy’s wedding (alright, Busted) after spotting her in a wedding dress.
‘It was chaos!’, Amy Walsh laughed as she reflected on filming these scenes.
‘Cain and Moira are there, Nate’s there, Frankie’s there and it doesn’t quite go to plan, let’s say. It was another chaotic wedding day for Tracy, which I only realised afterwards how bad her wedding to David was as well.
‘She’s really got form for those crazy weddings but obviously they’re way more fun to play than your average wedding day, so it was fun. It was nice weather as well, which helped.’
‘She’s in a wedding dress and she wanted to get married in Yorkshire didn’t she?’, Amy added.
‘I don’t know why she would do that, come here when she lives in Nottingham! She’s spotted at a local registry office in her wedding dress with Frankie by her side and a handsome young man by her side!’
One thing that’s changed dramatically since Amy was last in the Dales is the fact she now has young Bonnie to look after, who she shares with EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith.
Adjusting to a new routine with a baby is difficult but add filming for a soap into the mix, Amy is really feeling the tiredness!
‘I thought I used to be tired!’, she said.
‘I always used to complain about being tired before and now I’m like: ‘How has everyone been doing it?’ It’s hard, I’m not going to lie. Only because my child’s not sleeping at the moment, so that’s tricky. Also the hours that you’re here – you’ll leave at 7 and be back in the building at 7 the next morning. In that time, you’ve got to bath your child and put them to bed, make dinner and then do your lines for the next day. At some point talk to your other half, get your clothes ready for the next morning and then get up and go again!

‘When it’s your life, it’s a lot – but I secretly get a kick out of being pushed to my limits I think! So part of me has got a new lease of life from the pressure and I think it’s quite nice.’
Ultimately, it’s clear Amy is loving being back, despite how busy she is!
‘It is like family and seeing everyone is lovely. You do lose touch a bit with really good friends when you’re away. I was in London and busy with my baby and everyone else is getting on with their jobs. But it reminds you of how close you are as soon as you’re back together.
‘Roxy and I had barely seen each other but we’d kept in touch and we’re really close.
‘As soon as we were back together, we were doing yoga in the dressing room, going on a little run in our lunch break, chatting away literally like no time had passed.’
