Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarkar, who plays devoted doctor Manpreet Sharma, has hinted that Charles Anderson's "small gash" could be a lot more than just a "minor injury" as survival week continues to devastate lives.
It's been a turbulent week on the hit ITV soap and viewers have been left on the edge of their seats after Tuesday night's episode which saw Victoria Sugden, David Metcalfe, Manpreet and Charles all fall from a rope bridge more than 60 feet above the ground.
In the first half of the two part series, Manpreet and Charles have managed to make it safely out of the dangerous rapids but the same can't be said for Vic and David as their fate remains uncertain until Wednesday night's instalment.
As the long-standing show approaches its climax later on this week, two of the hit soap stars Rebecca and Kevin Mathurin joined Loose Women on the show to talk about all things Emmerdale.
While they joined Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, Janet Street-Porter and Linda Robson on the hit ITV daytime show ahead of the second part of the dramatic soap opera, Rebecca dished out all the juicy gossip on the upcoming show.
She told viewers: “Well, you’ve obviously seen Manpreet and Charles drag themselves out of the rapids.
“Their story continues and there’s a lot of chemistry between Manpreet and Charles. I think their story continues with great passion, it’s very poignant and there’s more jeopardy involved.
“We've just seen that Charles has noticed quite a gash in his leg and that proves to be not a minor injury, let's just say that.”
It comes after fans spot a subtle clue that Charles' life could be in danger after he sustained some substantial injuries from the terrifying fall.
When the pair found each other in the water and managed to get back to dry land, Manpreet noticed his head wound following the fall which knocked his helmet off.
After the life-threatening accident Meena saw the pair cuddling as they finally confessed their feelings for one another.
Once the two had found their feet, Charles suggested they try to find a way to help the others and while Manpreet's back was turned he noticed a significant wound on his leg.
Since then, fans have theorised that Charles could get sepsis from the injury which, if left untreated, could be fatal.
After the cliff-hanger episode, one user suggested: " Charles will end up with sepsis and either die or lose a leg #Emmerdale."
Another agreed: "Oh no. Could get sepsis or something from that cut on his leg #emmerdale."
Emmerdale continues on weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
