Inbetweeners actor Simon Bird looks unrecognisable in his new Channel 4 comedy.

The Friday Night Dinner star has undergone a big transformation for his new acting stint.

The new show, titled Everyone Else Burns will, is set to explore life in a hyper-religious community.

The new six-part series follows "a Mancunian family and the puritanical Christian sect they are devoted to".

Simon plays the role of David Lewis, a dad who is hoping to climb the ranks of his community's church and eventually become an Elder.

The actor has recently been snapped on set looking worlds apart from his role in The Inbetweeners as Will McKenzie.

Simon's character could be seen wearing a suit and a wedding ring, while some impressive facial hair and a hilarious bowl-cut.

Everyone Else Burns will also feature Death in Paradise actress Kate O'Flynn as David's wife Fiona, who continues to question her moral compass throughout the series.

The TV couple share two onscreen children – a naive 17-year-old daughter called Rachel, who wants to go to university, and a 12-year-old son, Aaron, who tries to fend off his persistent bullies.

Also in the series' lineup are Ghosts actress Lolly Adefope, Gentleman Jack and Coronation Street's Amy James-Kelly, Ackley Bridge star Arsher Ali, Stath Lets Flats actor Al Roberts and Taskmaster's Morgana Robinson.

Alongside After Life actress Kath Hughes, Ted Lasso actor Lloyd Griffith and This Is Going to Hurt star Kadiff Kirwan.

The new comedy has been written by Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor and directed by Ghosts director Nick Collett.

Everyone Else Burns has been dubbed as "subversive, authentic and bitingly funny".

The show will explore "what it feels like to balance faith, family and identity in a world that could end tomorrow (but probably won't)".

Talking about the programme, Channel 4's commissioning editor Laura Riseam said of the series, said: "We can't wait for audiences to enter the pressure cooker of life with the Lewis family as they righteously try and defend the ideology and logic of a life of purity with the vices of the modern world encroaching fast.

She added: "It's a glorious comedy trap; contemporary, relevant and very funny."

While Beatrice Springborn, President of Universal International Studios, added: “Everyone Else Burns is an irreverent, hilarious and heart-warming series from the brilliant creative minds of Dillon and Oliver.

We’re excited to be partnering with JAX Media and Channel 4 to bring this show to life.”
