Outlander season six has been majorly delayed, as filming had to be postponed thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. The Starz period drama is going to return nonetheless next year for its sixth series, which will be loosely based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Fans of the book series already have an idea of what could happen in the show with a major storyline involving new character Malva Christie (played by Jessica Reynolds) on the horizon.
WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Outlander.
Will Claire Fraser kill Malva Christie?
Season six is going to introduce the Christie family, made up of Malva, her Uncle Tom (Mark Lewis Jones) and brother Allan (Alexander Vlahos).
Malva starts working underneath Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) when they move to Fraser’s Ridge and proves to be very talented.
Claire adopts Malva by taking her under her wing and provides motherly advice to the youngster.
But in the book, which the next season is roughly going to be based on, a rumour begins that Malva is pregnant with Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) child.
The trouble starts when Tom finds out Malva is pregnant, and she tells him that the father is Jamie.
Claire is furious when she hears this in the novel, and punches Malva before running off.
After this incident, Claire later comes across Malva’s body, after she had her throat slit.
Claire attempted to save the unborn baby but sadly, both of them died as a result and were buried together.
Everyone started to think that Claire was guilty of the murder, and she received death threats.
So will Claire actually kill Malva and did Jamie really have an affair with the young girl?
Fortunately, neither happened in the book as Malva was pregnant with her brother Allan’s baby.
He had been sexually abusing her for years and started sleeping around to hide the identity of the baby’s real dad.

Allan was also the one who murdered his sister when she talked of revealing the truth to everyone.
Claire only found out what had actually happened when Allan confessed at Malva’s graveside.
However, even though this is what happened in A Breath of Snow and Ashes, this doesn’t mean it’s going to be the same in the drama.
So fans are just going to have to wait to find out if the show sticks to Gabaldon’s original plot.
While fans may still be waiting for the return of Outlander, there is some good news.
Season six is not going to be the show’s last, as the drama has already been renewed for series seven.
No release date has been revealed just yet, but it is likely the seventh outing will begin sometime in 2023.
Outlander is available to watch on Starz and Amazon Prime.
