Ranvir Singh was forced to stop filming during Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, taking a call from her young son in the middle of the production.

The broadcaster, 43, had been discussing the role of women in the home with Susanna Reid and Adil Ray when the unexpected call came through.

Working freelance as a presenter for ITV, Ranvir is a single mum to son Tushaan, eight, from her marriage to former husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal.

When she realised Tushaan was phoning her, Ranvir decided she needed to check "everything's okay" with her son.

Looking down at her phone, Ranvir interrupted the discussion and said: "Oh hang on a second my son is FaceTiming me whilst I'm on air.

"Sorry, I'm just going to have to answer to check if everything is OK at home."

The GMB presenters then playfully suggested Tushaan was ringing his mum to figure out where he could find the peanut butter in their northwest London home.

Adil laughed: "Breaking news.. 'mum where's the peanut butter'."

Clearly a little concerned, Ranvir looked at her phone and said: "Never off duty."

Susanna, who has three sons of her own, made sure to check back in with Ranvir moments later, ensuring there was nothing to worry about.

"Everything alright Ranvir?" Susanna asked, only for her co-star to assure her everything was fine.

Before the phone call interrupted proceedings, Susanna and Ranvir – both single mums – discussed the ways in which women tend to work harder than men.

"My son's nearly nine," said Ranvir.

"It's not the physicality of the work, it's the brain work. You think you've switched off at 9pm, but in your head you're still figuring out everything.."

Susanna agreed, adding: "Childcare, school arrangements, homework… all of that stuff.

"Obviously lots of dads do that too, that's not exclusively women's work. But the domestic work does tend to fall on women."
