Hamza Yassin has impressed the Strictly Come Dancing judges once again as he opened Blackpool week in style on Saturday night.
Hamza and professional dance partner Jowita Przystal took to the dancefloor to perform their American Smooth to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.
Dressed in a tail suit, the wildlife cameraman performed dizzying lifts and spins to secure a score of 38.
Meanwhile Jowita looked stunning in an embellished one shoulder blue dress with feathered detailing on the skirt.
Head judge Shirley Ballas tipped him as the one to beat, saying: “Hamza shone brighter than all the baubles and beads and bangles in the world.”
Ballroom specialist Anton Du Beke added: “That was beautiful. Tail suit, feathers, extra dancers, American smooth, Blackpool, gorgeous footwork. Welcome to Blackpool everybody.”
Hamza went on to receive two nines and two 10s from the judges – an almost-perfect score.
Strictly viewers also shared the love on Twitter about Hamza’s performance, and labelled the dance as “lovely”.
“Wasn’t that lovely from Hamza? #Strictly”, wrote one fan, as someone else penned: “Much as I ADORED Hamza opening the show, I'm also a bit gutted cos none of the others can match him as far as I'm concerned #strictly.”
“Hamza and Jowita, classy – and he made that final lift look effortless #strictly”, another said, as someone else branded his performance as a “great start” to the show.
Discussing his unexpected success, Hamza recently admitted that he himself has been shocked by his dance abilities.
“I didn’t know I had it in me, but someone [Jowita] believed in me. She’s worked so hard with me,” he told OK!.
“I’m absolutely loving it,” Hamza went on. “It’s a completely different world to what I’m used to and I’m enjoying every single minute of it. Usually, I’m covered in mosquito repellant, wearing wellies and hiding behind a net. Now I’ve got sequins on and I’m dancing with Jowita.
Following Hamza was CBBC star Molly Rainford, who performed a vibrant, upbeat jive to Bandstand Boogie by Barry Manilow.
Accompanied by a big band, the singer and actress bounced across the stage alongside her partner Carlos Gu to achieve a score of 35.
New professional Carlos said it was a “highlight of his life” to perform at the prestigious Tower Ballroom.
Anton described their dance as “tremendous” and aid that he felt he was getting to see more of Molly's personality during the routines.
Meanwhile, ever critical Craig felt it needed to be “lighter” and “more precise” but praised her for selling the number.
